Vet groups by size

The CMA's Order treats a vet business with 15 or more sites as large, and large groups must make most changes sooner. These are the groups at or near that line.

By our count: we count the practices we list. The CMA counts first-opinion and out-of-hours sites. A brand's practices count toward the group that owns it.

What the CMA Order asks of large groups

  • From 22 December 2026: publish price lists, information about each practice, and cremation options and prices.
  • From 22 March 2027: cap the fee for a written prescription at £21 for the first medicine and £12.50 for each extra one. Every practice, large or small, must also say who owns it and run a complaints process.
  • From 22 June 2027: give written estimates and itemised bills, and tell customers they can take a prescription elsewhere.

Smaller providers have until 22 March or 22 September 2027.
